BULLEN, George (1816-1894) British Museum (BL) 1838-1890 (Assistant Keeper of printed books and Superintendent of the Reading Room 1866; Keeper 1875) An expert on early printing he is remembered primarily for his work as an exceptional cataloguer although, possibly due partly to his easy-going temperament, he was outstanding in lacking enthusiasm for the BM's printed catalogue. He was an original LA Councillor.
